A wedding in white

There’s something deeply romantic about marrying in the snow — the hush, the crisp air, the peaks dusted white against a clear blue sky. New Zealand’s Southern Alps deliver it beautifully, and a winter elopement here feels intimate and utterly unforgettable.

When and where

For the best chance of snow, late July through September are ideal. Lake Tekapo is the most reliable for snow on the ground, while helicopter landings such as Tyndall Glacier, Fog Peak and Lake Lochnagar put you right among the winter peaks. Around Queenstown and Aoraki / Mount Cook, the alpine landings are spectacular under snow.

Planned with care

Winter weather asks for a little planning — and that’s my speciality. Every flight is subject to the pilot’s approval, and I always have a warm, sheltered backup ready, so your snow wedding is magical whatever the day brings.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have a snow wedding in New Zealand?

Yes. For snow underfoot and snow-capped peaks, late July through September are the most reliable in the Southern Alps, with Lake Tekapo particularly dependable. A helicopter can take you right to the snow line. Because mountain weather changes quickly, I always plan a warm, dry backup close by.

What happens if the weather turns on our snow wedding day?

Mountain weather is part of the magic, but it does change. That's exactly why you have me. I build flexibility into every winter wedding, with a sheltered alternative ready, and if we can't fly the helicopter cost is refunded within 24 hours.
